Assistive listening devices are
amplification system that can be used with or without hearing aids.
They are designed to overcome the problem of background noise, talking
distance and room acoustics for people with hearing difficulties.

Common types of Assistive Listening
Devices: |

1. |
Personal FM systems |
: |
consists of a transmitter microphone used by the
speaker and a receiver used by the listener. Sound is directly transmitted
to the hearing aid via the receiver.

FM systems |
: |
commonly used in theatres, churches, lecturer
rooms and convention centers. A FM receiver is usually provided
to connect to your hearing aid.

Amplified devices |
: |
amplify sound signals to raise the alertness
of people with hearing difficulties. Devices include doorbell alerting
devices, amplified telephones, amplified/vibrating wake-up alarms
and so on.
