Circuitry

Hearing aid circuits are classified into three major types:

1.

Analogue (conventional)
:

Analogue hearing aids are the very basic hearing aids with limited adjustments. Analogue hearing aids amplify both speech and noise to the same extent simultaneously. Speech perception in noisy environments remains poor as speech is always masked by the amplified noise.

2.
Digitally programmable
:
Digitally programmable hearing aids use analog circuitry but can be programmed by a computer to change how sounds are amplified. Independent programmes can be modified for users to maximize their hearing abilities in different listening situations.

3.
Fully digital
:
Fully digital hearing aids use digital circuitry and can be finely tuned by a computer. Fully digital hearing aids adopt tiny, fast and powerful micro-computers to restructure sounds thousands of times per second. Fully digital hearing aids offer better sound clarify, better speech signals in noise, better feedback control and better sound quality on the phone than analogue and digitally programmable hearing aids.
