Hearing assessment
is separated into two parts. Firstly, hearing is assessed with headphones
placing on both ears. Signals from low to high pitch are then presented
to each ear independently. Hearing test should be performed by qualified
Audiologist in a sound-proof room. Secondly, a bone vibrator is
placed behind the ear to investigate the nature of hearing loss.
The bone vibrator transmits signals to the inner ear, bypassing
the ear canal and the middle ear. For those with conductive hearing
loss, soft signals can be easily heard with the bone vibrator. For
those with sensorineural hearing loss, signals are heard at similar
levels with both devices. |
